After the Supreme Court struck down key parts of the Voting Rights Act, states began a series of efforts to restrict voting rights. These efforts disproportionately affect people of color and young people.

As in the Civil Rights Movement, churches are critical for ensuring the right to vote.

Sojourners, Skinner Leadership Institute, and the National African American Clergy Network are partnering to defend the right to vote and to combat voter suppression tactics that compromise the vision and the values of our democracy. Through this effort we will be educating and equipping African American Clergy with the needed tools and resources to protect members of their communities from unjust efforts that prevent eligible voters from exercising their right to vote.
